White House releases dubstep trailer for State of the Union

The White House is dropping more than the State of the Union on the American people tonight, it’s also dropping the bass. The official White House YouTube account on Tuesday afternoon published a short trailer for the President’s big speech and the soundtrack contains the unmistakable sounds of dubstep, the popular electronic dance music subgenre that includes Skrillex among its most famous practitioners.

So much for dubstep.

O m g. I find this so inappropriate…. it’s not the White House’s job or business to keep up so well with pop culture!! Call me conservative. There’s a fine line between relevance and trendiness….

This brings back the sentiment I had about Mitt Romney’s fake Gangnam Style video. I flipped out about that too until I found out it was fake haha.

I love this.

I’ve had a hunch since the Kodak project I worked on freshmen year… we’re headed back to physical and analog.

It’s like the idea of a food pill. Way back when, people speculated we’d create a pill that would supply all the food and nutrients we need for the day. It’s never happened because we all love the texture and taste of food too much.

I feel it’s the same way with technology. It’s taken our lives into a few screens - our computers and our mobile phones. It’s now time to see these things simply as tools to facilitate our lives, the physical and material life that we love living.
